Distributed by Curls, it's a curl's itsy bitsy spirals moisturizer is a pretty nifty little product for those who have little ones with just a wee bit of hair that needs a little moisture. I'm not sure when this product was released, but if I had known about it back when Boo was a baby I might have tried it out back then.
it's a curl! is a whole line of products that have been developed especially for babies with curly hair needs. I ran across itsy bitsy spirals moisturizer in a local store and had to try it out. It's mainly organic jojoba oil (see list of ingredients below), an excellent oil to help moisturize for it's ability to penetrate the hair shaft. We tried this in lieu of Boo's coconut oil this past week before washing and I was quite pleased with it. It was just like using straight jojoba oil, but with a bit of a fragrance. I'm not a huge fan of the smell, but that's really just a matter of personal opinion. Fortunately, it's not too overwhelming.
As far as using it on new babies (i.e., less than 6 months old), I'm personally not a huge fan of slathering stuff on tiny heads. I sort of figure if they're too young for sunscreen, they're too young for hair products. However, I would happily have used it after Boo was 6 months old. The main difference between this product and buying straight jojoba oil would be that this oil is really light; just enough for fine, growing baby hair. Boo's hair survived using this oil for the week, but I don't think it has enough to it for coarser hair. It really is created for that "new-baby" hair. There is also the baby-like fragrance, the extra preservatives, and the fact that it comes in a convenient little pump, always nice when dealing with squirmy little ones.
