Family Friday: Your Friendly Neighbourhood...Spider-girl?

Believe it or not, the day after Boo's 4-year-old Hello Kitty birthday party she asked that her next birthday party be Spider-man (yes, she's like her mother and plans ahead; like a whole year in advance!). Not that she was entirely over Hello Kitty, but she also has a love of super heros, not the least of whom is Spider-man. Although she's never seen the movie(s), she has seen the 1980's cartoon from my childhood (thanks Sean!). Since then she's been hooked.

Well, as soon as our neighbours across the street heard that Boo was in to Spider-man, they graciously shared an old costume with us, such that Boo could dress up any time she wanted. And wouldn't you know it, another family friend has two little boys who were was having a super hero birthday party this past weekend! I feel a wee bit badly that the whole time I'm thinking to myself, "Yay, I don't have to do a Spider-man party next year." Why? Because I don't have a Cricut cartridge for that!

Needless to say, Boo's most recent hairstyle was chosen for no other reason than she needed something that would work underneath the Spider-man mask. I didn't want anything pointy on top (no puffs or ponytails) or anything long that would hang down her back (ruling out yarn extensions). The All-Around Cornrows with Bangs worked out perfectly!

Boo had a blast at the party! She got knocked around a bit inside the bouncey house, as well as doing a bit of knocking others around, herself. Boo may be a lot of things, but "small for her age" is not one of them! She had a really great time and was thrilled to finally "be" Spider-man.

It's also curbed her birthday party idea. Now she wants a "wild animal" party. Whatever that means.
