Organizing Hair Accessories with Shower Curtain O-Rings

This has got to be one of my favourite tips for hair accessories ever! I've been using these for several years and, while going through Boo's closet today while doing some "spring cleaning," it occurred to me that I had yet to share this. I know many people are already familiar with using this cheap and easy way of organizing hair accessories, but for those who are not, may this make your life so much easier!

These are simply shower curtain "o-rings," plastic or metal, which are normally used to hang shower curtains. Yet I use them to organize Boo's ever-growing collection of pony O's, headbands, and sleepcaps. They can be found just about anywhere (Target and Walmart both carry them in the bath section), or you can get them from Amazon for next to nothing.

I like to organize my accessories by colour and type. Below you can see our scrunchies, with one ring each devoted to orange, red, and pink. Then I will link those accessories to a single o-ring so I can keep them grouped together.

It's also a great way to keep all of your elastic headbands together.

And if you have a bunch of sleep caps that have drawstrings, we simply keep them strung up by placing the o-ring through the looped drawstring in the back.

When all is said and done, you can toss them into drawers by category. However, I simply attach them to a coat hanger and keep them in Boo's closet.

I can't tell you what a time-saver it is to be able to flip through the coat hangers and select the one that has the products for which I am looking; it takes no more time than picking out an outfit in the morning. The o-rings are also really easy to open and close, which makes it great for Boo, as she's perfectly capable of being responsible for her own accessories. That, in itself, is another time-saver!

So there you go! With as cheap as these things are, and as easy as they are to find, hopefully they will work out as well for you as they have for us. And if you come up with a creative way to store them, I'd love to hear it!
