We did a few puffs in Boo's hair this last weekend, and I often get asked how we get her hair smooth and slick for this style. I will be honest: We don't. I'm personally not a huge fan of tight, slick styles on her, especially at this age, because (a) I want for her to be okay with the little "bumps" that her curls form when pulling her hair back into a ponytail, and (b) I don't want to stress her hairline. As she's at a very impressionable age right now, I'm trying to do what I can to get her to understand the things that her hair does, and how it's not always the same as what she sees on other people. Right now she's okay with the "bumps" her curls create, as Daddy's hair is also very bumpy when pulled back into a ponytail, as well (he has 3a/3b curls). That being said, this simple scarf trick does help keep the fly-aways at bay, and can be used to create a more slick style, if that's what you choose.
